A. R. McALLISTER-Band Clinic
Director of the Joliet (Illinois) Township High School and Junior College Band. Former
president of Illinois School Band Association, president National School Band
Association, member American Bandmasters' Association, director High School Band at
Interlochen, director University of Wisconsin Clinic Band 1931-32, director Intermountain
Clinic Band 1932-33-34 (Utah State Agricultural College.)
NOBLE CAIN-Choral Clinic
Director Chicago A Cappella Choir, Choral director Chicago Studios of the National
Broadcasting Company, director Chicago Music Festival. Mr. Cain has
directed large groups in singing in many parts of America and Europe. He is hailed as a genius in the
field of choral music.
HENRY SOPKIN-Orchestra Clinic
Member of the faculty of the American Conservatory of Music, Chicago, in charge of
the instrumental department and public school music. He is also a member of the violin
faculty. Member of the music department, Lakeview High School, Chicago. He has been
engaged for the third season to conduct the orchestra at the University of Wisconsin
Music Clinic. Mr. Sopkin has given much time to baton technic, score reading,
arranging for orchestras and bands for school use, and, the study of violin,
viola, and 'cello.
FORREST McALLISTER-Drum Major Technique
Director Petersburg (Illinois) Harris High School Band. Although a young man Mr.
McAllister, who is the son of A. R. McAllister, has won considerable distinction in the
public school band field. He has taken part in the Intermountain Clinic Band at Utah State
Agricultural College and has been guest conductor of famous bands on a number of
occasions. He is an artist in drum majoring and will teach courses in both military and
fancy work. He is the originator of many unique maneuvers lending to the
attractiveness of marching bands.
L. E. SMITH-Associate, Orchestra Clinic
Director Instrumental Music Sterling ( Colorado) Public Schools, former president
Colorado Bandmasters' Association. Mr. Smith has been associated with the National High
School Band movement since its beginning, and is a powerful influence among young
musicians. His personality, sympathetic understanding with young musicians, command
of subject matter, and remarkable teaching ability place him in the front rank among the
teachers of America in the music profession.

Philharmonic Orchestra; formerly first flutist in the San Diego Philharmonic Orchestra and
the Grauman Theaters, Los Angeles; student at the Institute of Musical Art, New York
City, and a pupil of George Barrere.

Director Blackburn Band School, Denver; former member Denver Municipal Band, Cavallo Symphony Orchestra, and Colorado and Orpheum Theater orchestras.
