MRS. VOLLMER IS DEAD; 12 CHILDREN SURVIVE
Mrs. Peter Vollmer, 76 years old, died at
her home south of Roanoke in Union township yesterday morning at 8:10 o'clock of
infirmities incident to advanced age. The funeral will be held Saturday morning
leaving the residence at 10 o'clock for the Little River Union church where the Rev.
F. H. Diehm, pastor of the St Peter's Reformed Church of Huntington will
have charge. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
When she was thirteen years old, Mrs. Vollmer
was brought to America from her home in Germany by her parents where she was
born on October 22, 1840.
In this country the family came to Huntington
County (Indiana) where the then Miss Felton became the bride of Peter
Vollmer. 12 children were born to the union all of them living.
They are Jacob and John of near Markle; Peter Jr. of
Huntington township; Charles of Cairo Michigan; Daniel and Mrs. Elizabeth
Van Dyne of Peru; Mrs. Sarah Smith of Decatur Indiana; Mrs. Carrie
Young of near Roanoke; Mrs. Minnie Rinchin of Roanoke; Lewis and
Christian of the home place; Mrs. Mary Fousz of near Roanoke. Also
surviving are the following brothers and sisters; Adam Felton, Mrs.
Carrie Knatt and Mrs. Mary Knatt all of Maywood Ill; Peter Felton
of Huntington; Lena Buckholtz of Roanoke. Mr. Vollmer died
about seven years ago.
